VINTAGE & PVT RESTORATION AND SALES
WE SPECIALISE IN ROESCH TALBOTS
I S POLSON partnership is changing legal status as at 1st January 2018.
We will become IAN POLSON LLP (Limited Liability Partnership).
But we will continue to trade under the name I S POLSON.
I.S. Polson was established in 1978 as specialist restorers of Roesch Talbots.
Ian Polson, the founder, a professional engineer with a background with major companies in the motor industry, had been involved in old cars as a hobby for many years and his training and experience caused him to recognise the Roesch designed Talbot of 1926 & 1937 as outstanding examples of automotive design and engineering.
In 1978 he decided to turn his long standing hobby, old cars, into a business and the firm I.S. POLSON was founded with Ian and Pam Polson as partners. Initially the firm specialised in Roesch Talbots and Delahayes, as at the time Ian owned the Delahaye 135 SC which had finished 2nd in the 1936 French Grand Prix and had won the 1949 Australian Grand Prix.
More recently the focus has shifted almost entirely to Roesch Talbot, a major reason for this being our project to recreate the aluminium talbot 105 engine, an original example of which Ian has owned since 1966. Examples of these new engines have been running in national and international historic races since 2006, and in nearly 10 seasons of racing no problems have been experienced.
I.S. Polson have full restoration facilities including a comprehensive machine shop, facilities for white metalling and line boring, full sheet metal and welding facilities and a paint shop which has turned out cars which have been successful at major concours. We overhaul complete cars from scratch and can rebuild major units such as engines gearboxes, axles etc. All rebuilt engines are dynamometer tested in house.
We have a large selection of new and secondhand spares and undertake routine maintenance and servicing.
We have sold many Talbot cars and also undertake insurance valuations.
